Domain Hosting
I'm not going to give you a real in-depth review of hosting companies.
But I will give you my suggestions. I currently have more than 150 web sites hosted at various hosts in North America.
I don't put all of my websites on one server, or in one hosting package, but I do sometimes have several websites in a shared server type set-up. How you organize your website(s) is totally up to you.
If you have a questions, feel free to ask me. I've been through a lot of hosts and a lot of moving websites. I'll share what I can with you and eventually have it posted to this page. Subscribe to my monthly newsletter and you'll get the info before anyone else does.
Host Gator
- I have used and am using Host Gator currently
with more than 40 of my domains (out of 152 currently). I have a shared
server with unlimited traffic, I have a dedicated server with unlimited
traffic and more space that I could use unless I went video totally on
my site. And I have a reseller account that I use to host new websites
that I am developing. With the reseller account, naturally, Host Gator
provides the system built-in to sell domains inline. I just use the
reseller account for my own domains and a couple that I manage for local
businesses. The control panel is easy to use (cPanel) and setup is a
breeze. The biggest thing is that support staff and ticket system at
Host Gator is the best I've ever dealt with, although how really wants
to ever need support, right?
And I have to add: I did have some server issues a couple of weeks ago with my dedicated server. Host Gator support took care of it right away and when I said that there might have been traffic disruptions to my site because of these issues they gave me a credit for one month's hosting. I saved $170.00! Thanks guys!
iPowerWeb Hosting: I now have a hosting account at iPower. I went with them to have a Windows hosted server. I like their reputation as good hosts with a great support system in place (domains 170-174 of mine will be hosted here... should keep me busy for a couple of days designing, adding content and products and preparing my advertising campaigns. I looked hard at the other offerings available I really liked the price $83.60 for a Windows hosting account for up to 25 domains, with plenty of bandwidth and storage. Now I can stretch my wings beyond the linux hosting I've been using before and really dive into ASP 2.0 and more! I am excited!
1 & 1 Internet Web Hosting
- I have used 1 & 1 and found them easy to use buy their support wasn't
great for me and I had a hard time using their control panel for website
management. But a lot of my friends swear they'd never use anyone else
so feel free to take a look, maybe the price s right for you? And they
have some great free software included to get you started. 1 & 1 is
great for first timers because of the software and instant setup that's
available for free.
